Author: SIDDIG AHMED SIDDIG
pp: 13-20
Abstract:
The removal of infested lower leaves of date palm was found to be an effective means of decreasing infestations of the scale insect Parlatoria blanchardii Targ. In field trials sprays of petroleum oil+dimethoate, petroleum oil+malathion, petroleum oil+methyl parathion and methyl parathion also produced significant control. Petroleum oil+dimethoate sprays increased the yield per tree by 46, 52 and 74% in the first, second and third seasons respectively. Spraying with petroleum oil+malathion and methyl parathion also produced similar increases in
yield.
