Abstract:
Failure to obtain plants or shoots of sufficient size for removal to greenhouse has been a problem with nucellus cultures of some monoembryonic Citrus cultivars. The problem has been solved for C. grandis L. ‘Ma Dou Wen Dan’ by grafting emerging shoots onto ‘Troyer’ citrange seedlings in vitro. Grafted stems elongated rapidly, produced healthy leaves and manifested no shoot-tip necrosis. The elongated shoots were severed after two months and regrafted onto nursery stock in the greenhouse.
