Micropropagation of Five Endemic Species of Limonium from the Iberian Peninsula

Abstract:
Plantlets of Limonium dufourei, L. calaminare, L. gibertii, L. dichotomum and L. catalaunicum were successfully regenerated from nodal segments excised from young seedlings. All these species are endemic to Spain and show different degrees of risk for their conservation in their natural areas. Initiation of multiple adventitious buds was obtained on MS medium plus 1 mg l^-1 IBA and 0.1 mg l^-1 BAP. Rooting was achieved by transfer of the isolated shoots to fresh MS medium without plant growth regulators. Different responses were obtained after acclimatization to ex vitro conditions in the five studied species.
