pp: 229-238
Abstract:
The two Pelargonium species largely cultivated in Europe and northern America (Pelargonium × hortorum and Pelargonium × hederaefolium) have a complex origin. Although new cultivars are produced every year, the genetic basis and relatedness of this plant material is poorly documented. The objective of this study was to test the RAPD assay potentialities to generate polymorphic markers. RAPD patterns from 34 cultivars of Pelargonium were scored to study their genetic relationships. Statistical
analysis results are in harmony with known botanical data.
