Abstract:
An S₂₅-RNase gene in the pistil responsible for self-incompatibility within the apple (Malus × domestica Borkh.) was cloned from a Mcintosh cultivar. We developed an S₂₅-allele-speciflc polymerase chain reaction and digestion (PCRdigestion) method using specific primers and the restriction enzyme BamHI. We investigated the S-allele genotypes of 18 ´Mcintosh` progneny.
