Abstract:
A method to genetically transform embryogenic callus from Vitis × labruscana is reported. l~mbryogemc calli from ´Fredonia` and ´Niagara` were co-cultivated with A. tumefaciens strain LBA 4404 carrying constructor Agl-gus BS35, to obtain Agi-gus transgenic plants. Five ´Fredonia` Agi-gus plants were recovered in this experiment. They were conlirmed as positive transformants by PCR and Southern blot analysis. This is the first report of successful genetic transformation and recovery of transgenic plants in V. × labruscana.
