Title:
Effects of SADH treatment on cell size and types of sugars accumulated in melon fruits

Author:
Y KANO

pp: 14-17

Abstract:
SADH treatment suppressed melon fruit growth, and the treated fruits were firmer than those of the control. There were more cells smaller than 200µm in the treated fruit than in the control, but the total number of cells larger than 200 microns were fewer than in the control. Average sucrose content in the treated fruit was less than in the control, but average glucose content in the treated fruit was more than in the control fruit. These facts lead to a conclusion that the accumulation of sucrose is suppressed because of fewer large cells in the melon fruit where growth was restricted by SADH treatment.
