Abstract:
One of the greatest challenges in our modern world is keeping up with the relentless pace of change, and the difficulties of staying abreast of rapid changes in many aspects of horticulture will not be news to readers of this journal. But horticulture is also affected by wider political changes in the world around it, and one area that has become steadily more important over the past four decades has been increasing policy and regulatory interest in exactly how plant genetic resources are, and should be, shared.
