Abstract:
The Journal of Horticultural Science and Biotechnology (JHSB) is a long-established and well-respected channel for transferring and debating horticultural scientific knowledge.
It aims to promote and provoke changes of direction in scientific thought and research, as opposed to passively reporting experimental results.
Founded in 1919, The Journal of Pomology initially provided the Žofficial organ` for publishing results from the East Malling (Kent) and John Innes (Surrey) Research Stations.
Within 3 years, wider horticultural science needs were perceived and it became The Journal of Pomology and Horticultural Science. In 1947, the title was shortened to The Journal of Horticultural Science and this stood for 50 years.
By 1997, the impact of molecular biology and its increasingly important role in horticultural science was recognised leading to the current, extended title - The Journal of Horticultural Science and Biotechnology.
